I went back to work on Tuesday refreshed and ready to conquer whatever was thrown my way. I'll admit though, getting up early has been rough this week! Multiple mornings of sleeping late and a handful of nights of staying up late equals one hard to get up woman come Tuesday morning! Not like that is something unusual though.
Anyway, it's time to start spreading the news...the good news that is! Nick and I accepted an offer on our townhouse last week!! We are beyond thrilled and we really couldn't have asked for a better offer. We actually ended up getting 2 offers on one day. Crazy right?! God is so good to us! We are now waiting for an appraisal to be done and then the home inspection. For the time being we are in what's called a 'due diligence' period in which the buyers can walk away without penalty if their finances don't work out or if the inspection or appraisal don't go smoothly, etc. If we can get to the end of this month, will be out of the due diligence period and then we will hopefully close mid-Octoberish.
All of our hard work of decluttering, storing away furniture (thanks Sue!), cleaning and keeping our home "show ready" finally paid off. I think almost to the day, our house was on the market for 2 months. In the moment it seemed liked forever, but looking back, it really wasn't too bad. I definitely commend our realtor, Leigh Anne, for all of her hard work in helping us price our house to move and for answering my gazillion emails about showing comments! I also want to thank my husband, Nick, for helping me keep the house clean and for being flexible when we had showings last minute.
Now comes the fun part! We get to house hunt as a married couple! The current townhouse we are in now, I purchased before Nick and I met. It'll be fun to buy a home as a couple and one that we can grow in. We found a home that we both adore that we are going to see this weekend. It's been on the market awhile, which could be a really good thing (we could get it for a good deal) or it could be a really bad thing (some thing is wrong with the house). We shall see!
In the meantime, I have to share with you some bad news. I've become addicted, oh yes my friends, to Pinterest!! I've been "pinning" home decor and DIY galore! I'll admit I got a little out of control the other night and ended up with over 150 pins. Eeks! If you care to see some of things that I've pinned, you can take a look here: For the Home Pinterest Obsession
It's crazy though how much stuff I've found that I can do/make that I never would have thought of myself. We will be in need of some odds and ends furniture (hopefully thrift store or craiglist finds) and Pinterest has great ideas for sprucing up old stuff so I like that as well. I keep kidding Nick that I might just become a handy carpenter woman when we find our new home. Time will tell!
So there you have a quick and exciting update! I'll be sure to share how our viewing goes on Sunday of the home we love. Thanks for sticking around even though I've been a little out of commission these last few days. I blame it on Pinterest and house hunting! Stay tuned for a "Bring on the Goodness" post later this week where I'll share things that are currently bringing goodness to my life. Have a wonderful evening!
How exciting! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteAnd there is no such thing as a bad Pinterest addiction. It is only so, so good. Somehow, pinning always feels productive to me. =)
Congrats on the townhouse sale! We're house shopping too at the moment...it's exciting and scary. Best of luck!
